To date, I (Dion Miller) am an introverted realist with pessimistic tendencies. Born and raised in south central rural Pennsylvania, God has walked with me and carried me through many phases to this day in Central Illinois. My timeline: son, brother, student, fatherless, Army cook, graduate, engineer, husband, father, widower, single parent, husband again, stepfather, step-grandfather, Facebook user, empty nester, and now stepping out in faith with a website and business. As a recovering introvert, I have struggled with fulfilling the Great Commission especially 1 on 1. God 's way is sometimes mysterious, and He is using multiple things to draw me out. Yes, God impressed on me to get on Facebook. That was a huge step. As I have passed the half century mark, I need to tell what God has done for me and point people to Jesus. The secondary part of this effort will be handmade items of wood and metal. My engineering career has come to a close and the goal is to expand my skills as a woodworker, welder, and ultimately a blacksmith. As a mechanical engineer with hillbilly roots, I like to build things that have purpose and function. This aspect will grow. All of this is new to me. We will start small. We will make progress. We will make mistakes. We will trust God to guide us through.
Karen is a lifelong central Illinois resident. She knows by experience what it means to live by faith. Her mother died while Karen was a pre-teen and she spent much of her adult life raising five kids as a single parent. She has lived it on trusting God for "our daily bread" as in the words of Jesus. We have discussed this introvert/extrovert. I call her a "tweener". She is introverted in larger settings and groups but an extrovert in one-on-one settings. We are opposite because I had to become comfortable in presentations in front of groups because of my job. In her Walmart ministry, Karen routinely strikes up conversations with people. I encourage her to write some of her experiences down and we will see where God will lead her.
We have been married since 2010 even though our families have known each other for many years. She has four living children and continues to work through losing a daughter a few years ago. I have three adult children. Between us to date, we also have four daughters-in-law, 18 grandkids, and 5 great-grandkids. We are a blended family and empty nesters.
We continue to learn many things because we have not "arrived". We have been saved by grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and strive to walk it out day by day on this earth. We desire to share this with others because of the evidence we have experienced with a loving and living God. 31 Mar 2023
Heaven is a real place. Hell is a real place. We are Adam’s seed and destined for Hell. Jesus’ death and resurrection provides the only way to Heaven. While still on this earth, Jesus will transform you and your circumstances….if you make Him Lord of your life.
Here at MillerWerken, we love things made of wood and metal. But in the center, we love The Message of Jesus. Jesus is the Lord of the working man and woman. He was an old school no power tool carpenter before He started His ministry. Jesus is Lord of all 7 days of the week and not just Sunday. No matter what you do in this life, Jesus can be your Lord too. Our mission is to proclaim Jesus in everyday life. It was the wood of the cross and the metal of the nails that made it possible for Jesus to be our Lord.
The vision is in two parts: ministry and business. The vision of the ministry is to extend The Message through blogs, books, podcasts, and videos. The vision of the business is to fund the ministry. The wood and metal products will be the means for this funding. The vision is to have a marketplace for the goods from the extended Miller family. The vision is to be a tax paying for profit business such that we will never have to ask for money.
